Simple enough: Life Insurance costs more when your risk of dying increases

It is no big secret that life insurance companies base the rates they charge you on the level of risk you present. Young, healthy people, who don’t smoke or engage in risky behavior will pay lower premiums than older people with health issues and bad habits that can lead to a shorter life expectancy.

While you may not be able to do anything about your age or the fact that your mother died of cancer, there are things that you can do to make life insurance less expensive to buy.  Obesity is a major risk factor that can lead to a number of different life-shortening conditions such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease and stroke. Lose those extra pounds and you might qualify for a more favorable life insurance premium.

It may be hard to give up smoking, but people do it every day. Not only will you be able to get a less expensive policy, but you will also be able to breathe better. You may find it exhilarating to sky dive or swim with the sharks, but insurance companies will ding you for engaging in such risky behavior.

Life insurance comes in many forms. For example, you can buy term, whole or universal life. For more information about life insurance in McKinney, Texas, please contact the Pierce Insurance Group.
