Your children don’t need to be boy scouts or girl scouts to be able to survive and keep themselves safe! Ease your mind and talk to your kids about a few of these tactics:
- Before going to crowded location, encourage your child to sit right when they realize they are lost. Wandering around and searching for their family will only make the situation worse, and last longer.
- If they are home alone and the door rings, tell them to not answer the door. Turning on a TV or radio will help if the person knocking at the door is a burglar.
- Teach your children how to speak with a 911 operator in the case of a medical emergency. Practice phone calls are a useful tool.
- Teach your children to be aware of what is going on around them. You can do this using a game in the car, by asking them to describe buildings or vehicles after you pass them.
Your children can only protect themselves if they have the right tools. Work with them on these skills often, and increase their confidence with the outside world. Please contact Pierce Insurance Group, located in McKinney for all of your insurance needs!
